Synopsis

The Mysteries of Taal goes to press a month after the devastating June 12, 1991 eruption of Mt. Pinatubo, which had lain dominant for 600 years. Apo Malyari made world news in a tragic drama that killed more than 300 persons, and left at least 100,000 other with neither food nor shelter.

Taal killed at least 1.335 farmers and fishermen in 1911, and her ashfall blanketed an area of 2,000 square kilometers.
The author was fascinated with Taal lore–and shows it through his writing. His underwater explorations prove many of Taal’s legends to be based on fact.
