The Fisherman's Forest

The Fisherman’s Forest tells the story of Roberto Ballon—recipient of the Ramon Magsaysay Award 2021—a humble fisherman who led his community in restoring degraded mangrove forests in Zamboanga Sibugay. Through unity, perseverance, and environmental stewardship, he transformed barren coastal areas into thriving ecosystems, improving both marine life and the livelihoods of local fisherfolk. His leadership shows how caring for nature can uplift entire communities and secure a better future.
