Simplicity, interest, variety, and art, that can easily be made and imitable, - these are the qualities that have been kept in mind in the writing of these stories. Just for fun is the title of the story in the book; and those three words should describe the attitude with which the first-year high school student should approach the reading material assigned to him. Just for fun should approach the reading material assigned to him. Just for fun should describe the frame of mind that persists with him throughout the entire period; and it should be the impression left with him when the reading has been finished. Reading of English as one of the pleasures of life should not begin when the hair is graying and more active pursuits have lost so much of their appeal. It should begin with the very first day of reading.
